MORE thriving companies have moved into our beautiful centrepiece Lingfield House after a surge in demand.

Our favourite hobby will always be getting to know new friends and colleagues – especially when they take the form of new customers.  Our beautifully regenerated art deco building, Lingfield House, has welcomed Healthfield Multi Academy Trust and Tensor Marketing – part of the Easy Life Group – who have both taken up residence in our stunning offices.

Heathfield Multi Academy Trust is made up of several primary schools which work together to get the best value for those involved.

Heather Ferguson, Director of Operations, said: “The Trust is a ‘strength in numbers collaboration.  We are able to share the work and the resource in finance, health and safety and human relations which frees up the time of the head teachers to concentrate on the teaching and learning experience.

Magnet attracted to larger space at Lingfield Point »

Our industrial offer for warehousing and logistics has shown its massive pull for regional businesses after Magnet increased its base six-fold.

Magnet already occupied a 12,000 sq ft space but has now taken a huge 76,000 sq ft unit – which is great news for our Darlington business park and proves the massive potential for the Eastern Growth Zone of Darlington.

Jonathan Simpson, of Connect Property North East, said: “The fact that Lingfield Point is so accessible to the region, with routes that connect to major roads make it an ideal logistics hub for Magnet.

“This letting represents the largest warehouse letting in the Tees Valley so far this year and follows quickly the recent letting of 25,000 sq ft to JLM Foods on the park.”

7487-008

Our accessibility is a massive pull for logistics

Simon Hay, Warehouse Operations Manager, said: “Magnet is a growing company and we needed to expand into a much bigger warehousing space in a convenient and easy to access location. This move is very important to our future so it was vital we took the right decision.

“Our original base at Lingfield Point gives us everything we need, with top class on-site facilities and extensive security. After looking around the region we could not find anywhere that came close – so we were delighted Lingfield could accommodate such a huge expansion.

“The new site represents a commitment by Magnet to continue to invest in Darlington and will create a fit for purpose facility to support our future growth strategy.”

Eddie Humphries, Lingfield Point Estate Manager, said: “There’s only one thing we love more than welcoming new customers and that’s seeing our existing firms grow and prosper like Magnet. The fact we have exemplary transport links – with road, rail, sea and air routes all within 30 minutes’ drive time – will be important to Magnet – as well as the superb 24 hour security with extensive CCTV which are obviously vital to our customers.”

Jonathan Simpson added “Lingfield Point is the only scheme in Darlington that can offer immediate use of warehouse and logistics space of 20,000 sq ft+”
Already the base for a number of national occupiers and distribution centres, Lingfield Point can offer units from as little as 800sqft through to 100,000sqft+; offering flexible lease lengths, storage and 3rd party logistics support on easy terms.

With superb security, 24 hour gatehouse and hub, gated entrances, vehicle recognition and extensive CCTV – why not locate your logistics business at Lingfield?

Our car share is miles better! »

IF you want to share your commute with people who work at the same place as you – why not call a Faxi?

Our neighbourhood has around 3,000 people working in office and industrial space at Lingfield Point, Darlington and – as a business always at the forefront of smart thinking – we’ve signed up for an online car sharing scheme to make it easier to link up with people making the same journey.

The idea of the journey-share website is to get a group of ‘friends’ acting as a taxi service to create ‘Faxi’ journeys – to save the environment and cash for the users.

Launching the initiative, our very own Eddie Humphries, said: “Sharing a commute with friends seems obvious – the difference is that Faxi puts together friends who just haven’t met yet!”

Lingfield Point – which already provides excellent cycle and public transport links – is working with Darlington Borough Council and Local Motion on the project which aims to help at least ten percent of the employees on site.  The launch of the car share scheme follows a recent survey by the council which found that nearly half of those asked at Lingfield Point said they would register for a car sharing scheme if one was offered. The survey also found that 61 percent of employees on-site currently drive to work alone, 79 percent chose their travel mode based on convenience and 28 percent on cost.

The Faxi website allows customers at Lingfield Point to access like-mined people from a range of businesses across the 90 acre site.

Alex Kay, Sustainable Transport Officer at Darlington Borough Council, said: “Lingfield Point has huge potential for employees to travel more sustainably.

“With hundreds of people driving to the same place each day at roughly the same time, it makes sense to reduce the number of cars filing up the site and roads on a daily basis.

“From the 547 employees who took part nearly half said they would register for a car sharing scheme. The survey revealed many will look at their drive to work and think about possible savings. We’re pleased to be working with Lingfield Point on this exciting new scheme.”

Eddie said: “The survey clearly showed that many employees like the idea of car sharing and we felt it was important to offer this great service to our customers, and to do so in an easy, convenient way.

“The new Faxi platform is simple to use and accessible on the go via smartphone. Journey sharing can help to lower fuel bills, reduce wear and tear on vehicles and lower emissions – so everyone benefits.

“Here at Lingfield Point we offer the very best service to businesses such as 100Mb broadband, a 24/7 concierge service, great public transport links and excellent amenities. We’re confident that good businesses feel at home at Lingfield Point and we’re delighted to launch this exciting new service.”

*The scheme is part of the Council’s Local Motion Project, which is funded by the Department for Transport.

Award-winning space for award-winning customers »

We’re proud to be home to over 60 businesses around our neighbourhood – in a variety of shapes and sizes – all enjoying unique business space in Darlington.

We’re even more proud of our customers – friends and colleagues – especially when they get the recognition they deserve for their ingenious quality of service and unique approach to customer care that resonates across our neighbourhood.

home instead senior care

One very special company is our Lingfield House-based customer – Home Instead Senior Care – who is celebrating having received the UK’s highest accolade for business success.

The UK’s No 1 homecare provider and No 1 homecare franchisor is proud to announce it has received the Queen’s Award for Innovation. The Queen’s Award is hugely prestigious and honours the blueprint for care the brand has created, a bespoke model that delivers dignified, quality care in the home for older people. The award from the monarch pays testimony to Home Instead’s relationship-led approach, which includes:

  • Homecare visits that typically last a minimum of one hour or longer.
  • A focus on the value of companionship and trips out alongside practical help with bathing and meal preparation.
  • CAREGivers and clients matched according to common hobbies and interests.

Co-founders Sam and Trevor Brocklebank brought the Home Instead ethos to the UK after experiencing poor care when Trevor’s grandfather Frank needed support. They knew there had to be a better way for an ageing population to receive care, a way to provide a quality experience that helps older people continue to live happily and healthily in the comfort of their own homes as long as possible.

The Queen’s Award recognises the growth of Home Instead – from the pilot office set up in 2005 by the Brocklebanks – to a robust network of 175 offices across the UK. The brand is made up of a family of business owners who are united in its mission: to change the face of ageing.

Today, almost 8,000 people are employed across the national operation giving care and companionship to 8,000 elderly clients.

Trevor Brocklebank, Chief Executive, said: “We are very proud of the difference the ‘Home Instead Way’ has made to older people’s lives and their families in turn over the last decade, a standard of care we believe truly honours the memory of my late grandfather.

“On behalf of our network, we are honoured to receive the Queen’s Award, the pinnacle of business achievement in the UK. Together we provide five million hours of relationship-led homecare each year. We couldn’t do this without our dedicated army of CAREGivers on the ground. This award pays testimony to their devotion to realising our mission and I thank them whole-heartedly for their commitment.”

We’re proud to be home to Home Instead Senior Care – joining so many other award-winning businesses across our neighbourhood.

Beauty in the Beehive – thanks to our latest customer »

We’ve just created some very special space for our latest new customer – a unique beauty clinic based in the Beehive – offering the whole remit of treatments to keep Darlington feeling confident and looking good!

The Cosmetics Room is run by Dawn O’Neill, an expert in aesthetics and cosmetic and medical tattoos, who thought the busy business park would be an ideal setting for her new venture.

Based in Beehive– which recently underwent a full make-over of its own – the Cosmetics Room is at the heart of Lingfield Point’s buzzing business community.  The unique space is a welcome addition to the many facilities available at this development that can offer office space in Darlington from 1,800sqft and even an exclusive camper van for break out or informal meetings.

BEEHIVE

Dawn offers everything from permanent makeup and tattoo removal to wrinkle relaxing injections, vampire facials and skin peels.  She works alongside Jennie Smith who specialises in cosmetic and beauty therapies such as make-up, HD brows, nails, contouring and spray tans.

Dawn said: “I wanted to train in permanent make-up and paramedical tattooing after reading about people who needed help after chemotherapy or surgery – it literally changed their lives – but I couldn’t afford it initially.

“Then I was made redundant and was able to use my redundancy to train – I believe in fate it was meant to be. Now I’ve been in business for five years and have worked freelance all over the North East but I was tired of the travelling and wanted my own base.

“I chose Lingfield Point as I have clients travelling for three hours for treatments, so my priority was easy access from the A1, A19 and train station and bus service, with free car parking.

“I also hoped that having Jennie as a beautician would provide a service to the people working at Lingfield Point and surrounding businesses.”

Estate Manager Eddie Humphries said: “It is always great to welcome new businesses to the neighbourhood.

“Our facilities are first class – from our fabulous broadband connectivity – essential for today’s businesses – to our 24 hour on-site concierge and security service and extensive car parking. The Cosmetics Room will add more colour to our exceptional facilities such as on site bus service, a café bistro, child care nursery, book swap club and our busy calendar of activities.

“Lingfield Point is very accessible, it’s easy to get to from across the North East and with around 3,000 people based here I can see the Cosmetics Room is going to be very busy!”

Beehive is home to a wide range of businesses from both the public and private sector including FaulknerBrowns – the internationally-acclaimed architectural practice, NFU, NFU Mutual and Internet firm Easy Web and offers space from 1,800sqft through to 15,000sqft+.

Paul Huggins, Chief Executive, said: “We are an expanding business and needed more space close to our HQ in Darlington and Lingfield Point provided the ideal location.

“The logistics here, being so close to road, rail and sea links, are ideal for a company like JLM Global Foods as we have to move stock fast and efficiently.

“We’ve been very impressed with the space and the facilities here – it is extremely secure and yet very accessible which is the perfect combination for us.

“And our staff are delighted there is an on-site canteen – even though we’re never short of a snack or two!”

Julian Brooke, of Lingfield Warehousing and Logistics, said:

“We are really delighted to welcome JLM Global Foods to Lingfield Point. They join a growing number of national and international firms choosing to base themselves with us. “Our continuing success is due to our ideal location, great infrastructure, flexibility in terms of both space and leases and the unrivalled security we offer – from CCTV, to 24-hour security and gated entrances.”

Connect Property North East’s Jonathan Simpson who markets the industrial offer at Lingfield Point said:

“This letting characterises the recent upturn in the regional industrial and logistics market that we have witnessed over the last 12 months. We have now reached a position where demand is now starting to significantly outstrip supply, particularly in both Newton Aycliffe and Darlington. Both the strength of the regional manufacturing sector and the recent opening of the new Hitachi train building facility is further enhancing Lingfields Point and Darlington as a strategic location.

Jonathan Simpson added “Lingfield Point is the only scheme in Darlington that can offer immediate use of warehouse and logistics space of 20,000 sq ft+”

Already the base for a number of national occupiers and distribution centres, Lingfield Point can offer units from as little as 800sqft through to 100,000sqft+; offering flexible lease lengths, storage and even 3rd party logistics support on easy terms.

Budding entrepreneurs sparkle with success this Christmas »

As Darlington’s biggest provider of office space – already representing over 60 businesses in the Tees Valley – our neighbourhood is always buzzing with activity – even more so this Christmas.

With a wonderful calendar of events this Christmas, we’ve welcomed Red Hall Primary School with Christmas crafts and cards for our neighbourhood to buy – all hand-made – raising money for their school funds – their unique sparkle and creative sales techniques ensured they sold out within an hour of their arrival!

make_grow_tcm36-33058

As part of the Virgin Money’s Make £5 Grow scheme, a number of local primary schools, including Red Hall Primary School have teamed up with Foundation for Jobs to teach our younger generation the value of money and how to run a mini-business.

Aged between 9 – 11, our local children have been learning valuable lessons – from designing products; developing business plans, making products and even how to sell – we hope we’re heping to give them a great grounding on the basic principles of business – and where best to learn this but in a creative environment like Lingfield Point.

It’s a scheme to get our children building skills for the future – learning valuable lessons surrounded by mentors and our supportive environment. Virgin Money have given children £5 per head and have worked in teams to develop a wide range of products to entice our friends and colleagues to buy during this festive season.

Children are encouraged to think carefully about their target audience, product costing, pricing and marketing. And in the process, they develop their business skills and financial understanding. In addition, schools keep any profit made after the original loan has been paid back – a great reward for pupils’ enterprise and hard work!

Once the programme has finished, the school will learn how much our local children have made – with all profits going to the school fund – a great way to experience the benefits of strong leadership and clear thinking.

Surrounded by creativity; customer service and of course great office space, we’re hoping our local school children will relish the challenge and opportunity of business – we’ll certainly be encouraging this flair of productivity.

Fancy a chat on your office or industrial needs for your business? Pick up the phone and we’ll pop the kettle on.
