Lingfield’s the limit for marketing agency »

Go Limitless, a marketing agency originally from Richmond, North Yorkshire, has moved into its first office space in a wing of Lingfield Point designed for start-ups and SMEs.

The agency, which moved into its 190sqft offices last month, provides services including design, marketing and printing for companies in the retail, insurance and professional sectors.

Go Limitless’ office will be home to its three employees, as well as providing growing space for one or two new recruits planned for the coming year.

Matt Prosser, Managing Director of Go Limitless, said: “Due to our client orientated approach and perfectionism to all of the services we provide, the business has grown nicely over the past 18 months.

“A large part of this is the Darlington based businesses we have attracted to utilise our services so it is a natural fit to have a base here.”

Small office space is in high demand across the UK, where there are over one million businesses with between one and nine employees according to ONS statistics.

Many so-called micro-businesses find it hard to secure office space which is small enough to accommodate them, and some stay as ‘living room’ businesses for years.

Matt continues: “We shopped around for a few different options, but we liked Lingfield Point because it’s got a nice set-up. There’s an art deco feel to the building, but it’s been modernised inside too.

“I think there’s great potential here to building a business community, and we’re aspiring to catalyse this to support our neighbouring businesses.

“We already have plans in place to provide free seminars to our Lingfield Point neighbours and engage them to educate others on the services they provide also – anything that adds value and gets people working together.

“It’s so easy in a business environment to just lock yourself in your office every day, but we’d like to build relationships with our neighbours here. The Lingfield Point team have been very welcoming and helpful.”

The move was brokered by Connect Property North East (CPNE) which has also overseen high profile moves to Lingfield Point for Capita, Amec Foster Wheeler and The Student Loans Company.

Tim Carter, director of CPNE, said: “It was a pleasure helping Matt and his team find the right space for their agency.

“Lingfield Point continues to provide a well-deserved home to SMEs and start-ups, which is testament to all of the hard work that goes into running and maintaining this unique business location.”

Eddie Humphries, estate manager at Lingfield Point, said: “We’re proud to be able to cater for companies big and small, and I’m particularly pleased that we have offices like Yarn which can house important SMEs and micro-businesses.

“We’re proud of being a business park with a difference, offering an excellent location and accessibility along with great customer service.”

Production company puts on a show at new Lingfield Point premises »

THE STAGE is set and the curtains have opened as a sound and lighting production company moves into the newly refurbished premises on Lingfield Point.

MT Audio Systems, which offers event and production services to clients across the North East, has relocated to a purpose-fit 3,500sqft workspace in the unique Lingfield Point.

This year also marks the 21st birthday of the company’s residence at Lingfield Point.

MT Audio Systems moved to Lingfield Point in 1996 when their equipment and business outgrew the family dining room.

Now with a host of satisfied customers, the company decided to make its fourth move within the business park to make space for new cutting-edge equipment and staging.

Mal Turner, owner of MT Audio Systems, said: “I’m delighted to be moving into such a great workspace at the former boiler house.

“A move to an alternative site was never an option for us: everyone at Lingfield Point is so friendly and helpful, and they’ve gone out of their way time and time again to give us the right space we need.

“We work with clients all over the North East and Lingfield Point is perfectly located to get us out and about, as well as hosting clients here for meetings.”

The newly stripped out and refurbished boiler house sits among a group of buildings totalling 600,000sqft.

The Lingfield Point team has a history of renovating its industrial buildings, including Patons and Baldwins, formerly the world’s biggest wool factory, which is now a hive for creative and professional services.

Lingfield Point’s high-specification offices are home to small and large business alike, with spaces ranging from 200sqft to 100,000sqft.

Eddie Humphries, Estate manager, said: “It’s excellent to build a long-standing relationship with a loyal customer. That’s how we like to do business where possible.

“Our facilities are first class – from our fabulous broadband connectivity to our 24 hour on-site concierge and security service and extensive car parking.

“We’re proud of being a business park with a difference, offering an excellent location and accessibility along with great customer service.”

Investment continues apace at Lingfield Point »

DEMAND for our workspace in our neighbourhood has grown so strong that we’re investing £700,000 in further development.

Following on from our £1million infrastucture upgrade, we’re now looking to help future users of our lovely business park by redeveloping a previously unserviceable space and turning it into a car park for a further 250-plus vehicles.  This improvement will certainly make a difference when potential customers are looking for a home for their business – as well as a home for their staff.

More recent arrivals at the site have joined major customers such as Amec foster wheeler, Capita and the Student Loans Company, swelling the number of people based on site to more than 3,000.

Eddie Humphries, estate manager at Lingfield Point, said: “More and more businesses are seeing the benefits of being based here, from our convenient location, which links directly into the North East’s roads infrastructure, to the excellent onsite facilities.

Clearbell, which manages the fund that owns Lingfield Point, now plans to demolish unused buildings that were formerly part of the old Rothmans factory, freeing up 70,000sqft of space for new use.

“This is part of Clearbell’s continuing investment to developing both office and industrial provision at Lingfield Point,” said Eddie.

“We’ve recently made a £1m upgrade to our infrastructure, and this latest move is part of our plans to futureproof the site as we continue to grow.”

"Its great news to see such investment in Lingfield Point and Darlington" says David Jackson

“Its great news to see such investment at Lingfield Point” says David Jackson

David Jackson of agents Jackson and Partners said accessibility and facilities are   major deciding factors when businesses choose Lingfield Point as their base.

“Car parking is a fundamental requirement for any business, and it’s great news that Lingfield Point is making this further investment,” he said.

“The business park also has a strong commitment to supporting convenient public transport and car sharing for everyone who works here, which organisations certainly appreciate.

“Add this to Lingfield’s excellent on-site facilities – ranging from a café and nursery to access to high speed, fibre optic connectivity, the 24-hour concierge service and fantastic security – and it’s easy to see why we get so many enquiries.”

The cycle of life with lingfield »

Enjoyed cycling to work yesterday with National Cycle to Work Day? We certainly did thanks to the team from Tees Valley Cycle Challenge.

Preparation for the big day got underway with support from Localmotion, Darlington’s Bike Stop and Dr Bike with Durham Police dropping in providing a valuable bike marking service to ensure that security remains high on our bike enthusiasts’ list of priorities.  Dr Bike were on hand to ensure that all cycles were in tip top condition for winter along with Localmotion promoting the benefits of cycling around Darlington’s extensive cycle network.

With plenty of opportunities to try out cycling, we loved the eight-seater bike and staff from Capita were quick to take their alfresco meetings on the road that took multi-tasking to a whole new level.   Capita were just one of the many of the customers supporting the Love to Ride Tees Valley Cycle Challenge, which aims to get more people cycling to work and for leisure.

“We don’t just pay lip service to sustainable transport, we have a regular bus service to site and earlier this year launched our Faxi car sharing service, for those who want to help reduce carbon emissions by sharing the journey to work.”

Claire Leman, Challenge Manager of Love to Ride Tees Valley, said: “We have a number of bikes to give away as part of the Challenge which rolls our across the Tees Valley – and we really hope the folks from Lingfield Point will take part.

Magnet attracted to larger space at Lingfield Point »

Our industrial offer for warehousing and logistics has shown its massive pull for regional businesses after Magnet increased its base six-fold.

Magnet already occupied a 12,000 sq ft space but has now taken a huge 76,000 sq ft unit – which is great news for our Darlington business park and proves the massive potential for the Eastern Growth Zone of Darlington.

Jonathan Simpson, of Connect Property North East, said: “The fact that Lingfield Point is so accessible to the region, with routes that connect to major roads make it an ideal logistics hub for Magnet.

“This letting represents the largest warehouse letting in the Tees Valley so far this year and follows quickly the recent letting of 25,000 sq ft to JLM Foods on the park.”

Our accessibility is a massive pull for logistics

Simon Hay, Warehouse Operations Manager, said: “Magnet is a growing company and we needed to expand into a much bigger warehousing space in a convenient and easy to access location. This move is very important to our future so it was vital we took the right decision.

“Our original base at Lingfield Point gives us everything we need, with top class on-site facilities and extensive security. After looking around the region we could not find anywhere that came close – so we were delighted Lingfield could accommodate such a huge expansion.

“The new site represents a commitment by Magnet to continue to invest in Darlington and will create a fit for purpose facility to support our future growth strategy.”

Eddie Humphries, Lingfield Point Estate Manager, said: “There’s only one thing we love more than welcoming new customers and that’s seeing our existing firms grow and prosper like Magnet. The fact we have exemplary transport links – with road, rail, sea and air routes all within 30 minutes’ drive time – will be important to Magnet – as well as the superb 24 hour security with extensive CCTV which are obviously vital to our customers.”

Jonathan Simpson added “Lingfield Point is the only scheme in Darlington that can offer immediate use of warehouse and logistics space of 20,000 sq ft+”
Already the base for a number of national occupiers and distribution centres, Lingfield Point can offer units from as little as 800sqft through to 100,000sqft+; offering flexible lease lengths, storage and 3rd party logistics support on easy terms.

With superb security, 24 hour gatehouse and hub, gated entrances, vehicle recognition and extensive CCTV – why not locate your logistics business at Lingfield?

A great way to spend a day »

This year’s Tees Valley Business Summit has been hailed as the most successful yet and we couldn’t agree more!

Now in its fifth year, the event welcomed more than 700 delegates and 106 exhibitors on the day.

We’re pleased to sponsor such a busy, vibrant gathering organised by the Tees Valley Combined Authority and BE Group. The positive atmosphere of the day reflects our firm belief that the Tees Valley will continue to prosper, and that it’s the perfect place to do business.  This follows an already very successful year for us as we’ve been over the moon with soaring demand for our office and warehousing space.

1a3e96_63fb109d299b4dd48c256e3e8ef58a0f

We’ve been really impressed by the quality of the networking opportunities and the calibre of businesses taking part over the years and is a key date in our calendar – we love reaching out to regional businesses, it’s the perfect way to look at ways of working together.  We think its a great way of meeting key contacts that support business growth in the region alongside customers of today – and tomorrow.

We’re thrilled to have played a key role in the summit’s success this year, helping it to be even bigger and better than before. Exhibitors and visitors enjoyed practical seminars, useful workshops and excellent networking opportunities – and our very special honey made by our bees especially for the day.  Anyone visiting our exhibition experienced a taste of life at Lingfield with our bikes, beehives and even honey on show!

Our car share is miles better! »

IF you want to share your commute with people who work at the same place as you – why not call a Faxi?

Our neighbourhood has around 3,000 people working in office and industrial space at Lingfield Point, Darlington and – as a business always at the forefront of smart thinking – we’ve signed up for an online car sharing scheme to make it easier to link up with people making the same journey.

The idea of the journey-share website is to get a group of ‘friends’ acting as a taxi service to create ‘Faxi’ journeys – to save the environment and cash for the users.

Launching the initiative, our very own Eddie Humphries, said: “Sharing a commute with friends seems obvious – the difference is that Faxi puts together friends who just haven’t met yet!”

Lingfield Point – which already provides excellent cycle and public transport links – is working with Darlington Borough Council and Local Motion on the project which aims to help at least ten percent of the employees on site.  The launch of the car share scheme follows a recent survey by the council which found that nearly half of those asked at Lingfield Point said they would register for a car sharing scheme if one was offered. The survey also found that 61 percent of employees on-site currently drive to work alone, 79 percent chose their travel mode based on convenience and 28 percent on cost.

logo

The Faxi website allows customers at Lingfield Point to access like-mined people from a range of businesses across the 90 acre site.

Alex Kay, Sustainable Transport Officer at Darlington Borough Council, said: “Lingfield Point has huge potential for employees to travel more sustainably.

“With hundreds of people driving to the same place each day at roughly the same time, it makes sense to reduce the number of cars filing up the site and roads on a daily basis.

“From the 547 employees who took part nearly half said they would register for a car sharing scheme. The survey revealed many will look at their drive to work and think about possible savings. We’re pleased to be working with Lingfield Point on this exciting new scheme.”

Eddie said: “The survey clearly showed that many employees like the idea of car sharing and we felt it was important to offer this great service to our customers, and to do so in an easy, convenient way.

“The new Faxi platform is simple to use and accessible on the go via smartphone. Journey sharing can help to lower fuel bills, reduce wear and tear on vehicles and lower emissions – so everyone benefits.

“Here at Lingfield Point we offer the very best service to businesses such as 100Mb broadband, a 24/7 concierge service, great public transport links and excellent amenities. We’re confident that good businesses feel at home at Lingfield Point and we’re delighted to launch this exciting new service.”

*The scheme is part of the Council’s Local Motion Project, which is funded by the Department for Transport.

Tees Valley Business Summit announced »

The fifth annual Tees Valley Business Summit is gearing up to be the best yet, and we can’t wait to be involved again.

Organisers, Tees Valley Unlimited, the Local Enterprise Partnership for Tees Valley and Tees Valley Business Compass expect to exceed last year’s event with over 700 delegates and 100 exhibitors attending the hugely successful event in 2015.

Taking place on Tuesday 5th July 2016 at the Olympia Building, Teesside University, the Tees Valley Business Summit is free to attend and features practical seminars, inspirational workshops, one-to-one advice meetings and networking opportunities.

Paul Booth, Chairman of Tees Valley Unlimited, said:  “This is the biggest and best business networking event in the Tees Valley and it is growing every year.

“It is so important that businesses have the opportunity to come together to listen and learn at the seminars and workshops and also to make invaluable contacts to support other local organisations and gain valuable new clients and customers.”

Lingfield Point exhibited at Tees Valley Business Summit for the first time in 2015 and were amazed at the quality and calibre of contacts made.  We were able to give a taste of lingfield life with bikes, beehives and even cupcakes from our cafe that sits alongside our available office and warehousing space in Darlington.

Great faciliies await new businesses at Lingfield Point

Great facilities await businesses at Lingfield Point, Darlington

The whole day provided us with time to assess and reflect on how the Tees Valley continues to grow and react to emerging markets, understand wider regional and national economic trends, but also enabled us to strengthen our own development plans – in line with the strategic ambition of the whole region.

We’ve been so impressed we have become more actively involved in 2016 and would recommend that any business that does business in the Tees Valley attend – its time well-spent.
